Ice birds
From Arctic with Love
This painting is inspired by my first expedition to Spitsbergen. The beauty and starkness of the landscapes there often left me breathless. The limited color palette, the silence or the sounds of melting ice drifting in front of the glacier, the mountains, the icebergs, the animals…
There was a moment when I stood gazing at the Arctic landscape and the partially snow-capped mountains on the other side of the strait, and tears of emotion rolled down my cheeks.
It was absolutely incredible, and I immediately knew I would return to the Arctic many times. I feel like I left a part of my heart and soul there. And that changes you forever. I am so happy I had the opportunity to see and experience this Heaven on Earth!
