SECOND MADMAN

Speak softly! I protect the world,
By holding up the azure ceiling of
The heavens with this hand held high above.
The sky, the sun, the moon would like to hurl
Themselves on everybody’s head! I stand
Beneath the sloping roof of heaven, I stay
Awake, but I am tired and sad. So pray
To me as I protect you and this land
From heaven’s flood: the everyday redeemer.
Go to sleep my people! Good night, sweet dreamers.
